If you plan to breastfeed you baby, La Leche League is an invaluable resource. When you are are a new mom (or expecting), breastfeeding can seem a bit daunting. I went to my first La Leche League meeting when I was 39 weeks pregnant and it was incredibly helpful. In person meetings are a wonderful way to connect with new moms and get support, advice and information on how to breastfeed your baby. If possible, it is best to connect with your local group before giving birth. The volunteers are knowledgeable and wonderful to help you create healthy breastfeeding habits for you and your baby. Here is their website and you can also connect with your local La Leche League group on Facebook.

Every Mother Counts is an organization committed to helping women around the world to not only survive birthing, but to thrive in motherhood. When trying to conceive (TTC), pregnant or in postpartum, it is vital to recognize the foods your body will assimilate and digest the most efficiently. Ditching processed foods is only part of the equation. Just taking prenatal vitamins is only one of the ways to support your body during preconception, pregnancy or postpartum. The ways in which we nourish ourselves daily are of the utmost importance when growing new life. The rest is up to you to ask these questions of the food you consume. Click here to download the PDF.

Even if it’s just for a short while, keeping track of what you put into your body is important whether you are trying to conceive or currently pregnant. Once you have given birth you will likely not have the time or energy to track what you are eating so its good to know what foods trigger any symptoms for you. This journal can be printed out and filled in by hand or you can keep on your computer and do it digitally. Track your food/liquid intake, your mood (headache, any digestion issues like gas or bloating, skin irritations, stomach or intestinal pains, tiredness after eating, heartburn, cough, etc.) and your poop every day for a minimum of five days and up to 10 days. See if you notice how you feel based on what you consume and whether or not you are eliminating (pooping) every day. Click here to download the Food/ Mood/ Poop journal.
